Uh oh....I had the same number contact me on Craigslist wanting to buy a motorcycle via money order. He said he'd give me an extra $50 for keeping it in his favour. I agreed and received a legit looking money order for $1950 when I was only asking $1000. I'm waiting on the order to clear at the bank. He says he's gonna come get the bike idk what to do now..
The money order is fake! You shouldn't of deposited it. You should of given it to the bank to have them examine it. Tell the person there is a 6 week wait to get the bike - period. Make SURE you explain to the bank that you think there is fraud here. Might speed things up. Here's the big point - Did the person come over FIRST to look at the bike? or just paid for it? Who buys a bike sight unseen? The person gave you double the amount. A little odd, isn't it? Lots of red flags here, as this is a common scam.
I know. But I'm 16 and when someone offers me money I take it instantly lol. But the bank said by tomorrow they'll know if it'll bounce or not. What if the orders legit? Even the owner of the bank said it looked real. If it is real, should I tell the guy to come get the bike? Also I screen shotted this page and sent it to the guy and said wtf is this [***]? And he hasn't responded. What do?
You are about to learn one of life's little lessons. You are dealing with a scammer who is going to ask for a partial refund and when you send it, you will find that the money order is a fake. Then you will be liable for the entire amount deposited, plus what ever you choose to send the scammer. Your bike is not so valuable as to be offered double the asking price, sight unseen. This is a common scam. Your call.
