Got this call from a lady who said she was a telemarketer at AAA. She offered me a free month of service if I renewed with her. She said three notices had been sent to me, but the address she gave had an extra digit in it, and an extra letter, so it probably went to the wrong address or something.
Sounds right I guess. But I'm the careful type, so asked for a number to call back before I give my credit card number. I visited the AAA website, fixed the address, changed my password there for good measure... then checked the call-back number she gave me. (It's 1-800-374-4847.) Hmmm, searching the web I see this is noted as a number to the Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP) in California, the visitor hot line. Now that's weird. First my address is changed, and now the call back number is a prison.
Ok, slick idea here, hack AAA website, change member's addresses so the bills go somewhere else, get their phone numbers and call them when their accounts expire, get their credit card number, buy new car.
3 weeks ago i left northeast pennsylvania to get away for the day down at the shore ,,,,,throughout the day i received calls to my cell phone with a 856 area code ,,,,,,being i didn't have my phone on me i didn't answer,,,,,when i got home i saw all the posts regarding this crap.....i thought it was all over with until tonight ,,,,they managed to call an old house number and spoke to someone there and got my unlisted phone to my house....some lady called close to 9 pm at night saying she is with AAA and that my membership is expired and i can renew now and save some money if i rejoin now,,, just like the above posts call came in on 856-778-9082 and she gave me the 1 800 374 4847 and 1 800 982 4306 numbers if i want to call back......tomorrow i am going down to AAA maybe they are big enough to look into what is going on .......shut your phones off when going throught new jersey.....
