This is Debt Solutions at 1010 Haddonfield-Berlin Rd. in Gibbsboro, NJ 08026. This is a national outfit, judging by the number of hits on a web search, unless the name is too generic to be trademarked nationally - but all the outfits seem to be in the same business, so I think that these are mail and phone drops for the same people. We've gotten several calls lately from this number. I answered this morning and got a hiss like an open line to a boiler room dispatcher on a call-forwarding long-distance link.
These are the people who offer to "lower your credit card interest rate" by transferring balances, negotiating discounts on debt, etc. What they don't tell you is that doing this puts a whammy on your credit score for years because it's a kind of soft bankruptcy. Such a hit on your credit record may not be subject to timing out in seven years or whatever like bankruptcy and, if so, could become a lifetime blemish on your credit record. They're a business, so they get a cut somewhere when they do this, and probably a big cut.
They got my wife going for awhile once before I caught her and got her to hang up. From the questions that they were asking her, I determined that they were trying to use her to answer questions that the credit agencies ask you when they are setting up an account for you with them. If so, they were impersonating my wife to a credit reporting agency, which I believe is a federal crime. They called back repeatedly every few minutes trying to get my wife back on the line; they would hang up if I answered.
I think that they may call without leaving messages or talking if you hang up on them and they get irritated. The local police told us not to make fun of crooked telemarketers or irritate them because, well, they *are* crooks, and they will not hesitate to harass you if they have the time.
If you get a call from "Credit Card Services" and they will not identify which credit card they are representing, it is probably the same people, or people who meet the same general description. They have a variety of phone numbers that, like many crooked telemarketers, are just mechanized call centers set up using a phone number anywhere, often a cell phone number.
Posting here is good because it helps inform the public. But complain to the FTC too, so that they get enough complaints to shut down the worst of them. If you do NOT have do-not-call:

This # has called 3 times in the past 18 hours. Twice I picked up and just listened - they said nothing. After 20 seconds, they hung up in my ear. How rude! The last time I just picked up and then hung up immediately.
