I received a call from this number. I answered after a few rings. No one said anything and then it disconnected. The next day I received a call from them again. My grand-daughter answered and didn't understand what they were saying. I picked up the other line for the end of the call and heard a man with a thick accent saying to call back for them to help us and then hung up.
This is most certainly NOT the US Treasury calling. It is a scam.
I received recorded call implying they represent US Treasury, asserting some sort of legal action against me, magistrate this and that, blah blah blah. 917-398-5586 was contact number I was urged to call, given at the end of the recording (no caller ID on the line the call came in on).
Let's go down the list, shall we?
Official notification of legal action against you DOES NOT EVER come by way of phone call, let alone robo-call. You will receive a registered letter or will be subpoenaed by a process server, etc. It will be a legal document, not a telemarketer-style robo call. The US Department of Treasury has issued FRAUD ALERTS about this very type of activity ...actually, make that REPEATED ALERTS (see links).
Please report these fraud attempts as advised on the above web pages, rather than making specious posts about them here.
