Want a quick solution? Grab your smartphone, your regular phone, and your work's fax machine phone number.
Get your smartphone ready to record (open the "voice recorder" app). Then call your work's fax machine line, and record the tones when the fax machine picks up. Let it record until the fax line hangs up (about 1 minute). You're ready to have fun, now!!!!
The next time a telemarketer calls, open up the voice app and PLAY the fax machine recording when you answer the phone. It usually takes 5-15 seconds for the telemarketer to hang up.
BONUS!!!!! Your phone # will be marked as "business - fax" on their list (basically a useless number, since you can't scam a fax machine). So you won't get repeat calls, and when the people who have you number sell their lists, your phone # won't appear on it!!! Basically, your ## become useless to THEM!!! BWA ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!
Got call today. Answering machine picked up. Caller said "hello, this is Joe". This is a real scam. Don't be fooled. If it was legit, the cops would send a flier with a return envelope for donations. SCAM!
10-14-2015, call from 917-398-9300 on CID - A.F.P.O. no message left. Previous calls from A.F.P.O. 914-219-0136 and 516-430-5211. Web search shows www. assocfpo.org as "Association For Police Officers" with support in eight states, NY, CT, NJ, MA, RI, NH, PA, and FL. Headquarters in NY. Looking at their website, they seem legit as a non-profit organization. But living in PA, don't know why all the calls come from NY.
This a scam and fraud they call me and it was some using a sound broad on a computer off some one else is voice call your local police on them never give money over a phone they will have your information also . Do not believe them
These twits from New York (out of state for me) called around 8 pm last night.
I have a new plan - don't answer and turn of the answering machine. They never leave a message anyway.
After about 18 rings my phone asks you to input a code if you want to access the unit.
At least with caller ID you can see who is calling and choose not to answer.
Which these days is 99% of who calls.
Received a call from this telephone number. No message was left. I called the number back...adding the *67 prefix. Reached a generic synthesized recoding stating that they could not take my call...to be removed from the call list...blah blah blah.
