I have something on my Galaxy S5 (CM Security, I think it is) that told me "Ad" when this number called me, so I let it go to vm. WELL, they/it left a 1-second blank vm (although not on purpose, I'm sure). Found no particular mention of this # when I searched online, so I called the # from a caller ID-blocked line (I was actually expecting a call from s/o) and wouldn't you know it? That ear-piercing tone comes on followed by the automated "The number you called is not in service." Tried it twice just to be sure, same results. So, then, how in france did they/it call me? Ah, the mysteries of modern technology, I guess. I created a contact on my phone which is on my Auto Reject List (thanks Samsung/Galaxy [Verizon?]!) and I add all of these robo-solicitor/scammer #s that come through to that contact.
On a separate note - maybe s/o reading this will be able to do something - I was reading once how the phone companies do at a certain point run out of numbers to give out, and the 917 area code is kind of a choice and hard-to-get area code; some people even auction off their 917 area code phone numbers! When we find out a number is a scam, shouldn't the phone company be able to give that number away to someone else? And whatever entity/individual uses a phone number for scamming purposes should lose their right to purchase another line for a period of time that gets longer after each offense. Sound good?
Anyways, watch out for this #. Speaking now from experience, a trustworthy call screener for your phone is super helpful and hopefully you have some kind of an Auto Reject function on your phone!
