Google will NOT call you unless you already have an Adwords account with them. They may send you a post card to get you to create an Adwords account but that is it. Do not work with any company that calls you to solicit and uses the Google name. They called me too and I am a company that actually does help businesses with online and social media marketing and once I let them know that I know what they are doing they hung up. I have a relationship with Google and they ask to be told of companies using their name. Called and said they were happy to let me know that as part of my promotion from my new website through VistaPrint that they could hyperlink me to all search engines. "We just need to verify your credit card . . . ." I told them to give me the number they had on file. They said they could not do that because they could not see my number. So I asked them how they were going to "verify" anything if they couldn't see it. And, if it's a free promotion, why do you need my card in the first place. Oh, Yes - it's only $5.00 - just one-time activation.
They finally hung up when I told them I would call VistaPrint (whom I've been very happy with in the past), and verify this promotion.
