Same old scam: "IRS has filed a lawsuit against you." But a woman this time with better English. Do not believe it! IRS communicates only on paper, by letter. They do not call. This is the first time this group of scammers has used this number. It won't be the last. They probably spoofed it from some innocent person.
Absolutely right on Sue!! I received the same call this morning. THE IRS DOES NOT SUE YOU! DON'T BELIEVE THIS NONSENSE! The IRS audits you. And if you are being audited they CONTACT YOU BY MAIL with a very intimidating letter that states in detail the year of tax filing, the amount in question, and they list penalties etc. attached to the issue. It is multiple pages and gives you information on how to contest it as well. The letterhead and all communication is official and protects your identity. These scamming identity thieving creeps are targeting the elderly and the vulnerable. Despicable!!
