Total scammers. They keep calling despite the fact that I told them to never call again and each message is more threatening. They lie and intimidate, claiming to be from the state and making it sound like an arrest is imminent. They were calling for my son who does not live me and hasn't in nearly 20 years. I thought it was illegal to pretend to be from the government or to keep calling and harassing when you tell them they don't live there and never to call you again. Yet, they have called me 3 times since yesterday and today's message said they are going to come to my son's employment, to MY home, and to his to get him! Liars and crooks scaring people that have NOTHING to do with the debt they are trying to collect. If it is not illegal, it should be!
I cannot tell you how often the business I work for gets extortion calls asking for one of our employees. Pity I don't get paid per call, really. Anyway, we received a call from the above number located in Belle Center, Ohio. The woman asked for a current employee, but I told her we could not pull him away from his job unless it was a medical emergency. She asked, "Well, can you take a message?" "Of course," I said. She proceeded to give the following number for him to call: 1-866-205-8704. She stressed that it was important that he call this number and ask for the "legal department," and give them a case number (which I'm deliberately omitting here). She said, "If he does not call today, they will take legal action and have him arrested." Never once did she give me her company's name nore the name of the company using her employer's "location service." Has anyone else encountered this?
I've already alerted my human resources department that this poor man is probably being targeted by scammers, and that we may receive more calls from these despicable people.
I just received one of these calls today on my cell phone asking for my daughter. When I said she didn't live with us (she's 29), she asked if I had a contact number. Since it sounded fishy, I told her I did not. Then, she asked if I knew anyone who was in contact with her and I again told her no, I did not. She then hung up.
