Typical spoofed number, robo-called on a tie-line. Caller Id says Goodwater AL, which is a nice small town that is not the location of the scam robo-callers. You can program in any number and Id you want into the robo-caller to deceive. According to other reports online, they call alleging collections for various law enforcement charities, but you can be sure none the groups they claim will ever see a penny. Blocked until they rotate to a new spoofed number, which changes with the outside temperature.
Caller ID says "Goodwater AL". They leave no message.
I do not call them back.
I looked elsewhere as there was little here. I found one report saying it was the "National Patrolman's Association". This "charity" is associated with the Reynolds family SCAMS.
Based on similar calls from other numbers, they may also go by "National Patrolmen's Foundation", "Fraternal Order of Police", "national law enforcement"", and "Patrolman's Benevolent Association". An organization with a bunch of aliases should be a big red flag. Often it is Officer <changing first name> Morrison calling. Sometimes he is requesting a donation. Other times he threatens imprisonment if you do pay a fine IMMEDIATELY (haste is the cornerstone of a SCAM).
I have yet to encounter a national police call which I don't consider to be a SCAM. This one is no different.
I said Hello twice and who is calling before the caller hangs up without saying a word. It has been months since I received a call from a blocked number. These callers simply have too many numbers available for them to use. Most of my calls lately have been some sort of law enforcement agency collecting money. However none speak if I ask upfront who is calling.
Call from "National Patrolman's Foundation". Had my address and name and wanted a donation by mail. I asked what percentage of money goes to slain policemen's families and they couldn't say. Just said whatever is left over after admin. expenses. Told me to call number in mailer for any more info. Don't think I'll be helping since not on charity navigator. Call from Goodwater, AL.
