"George Lee" called me tonight to let me know that I have won 1.2 million dollars from the mega millions lottery. Even though I've never played the lottery, I was "miraculously" chosen to win the prize. All I have to do is go to the Western Union store in Andalusia and get a receipt in the name of Nisheo Turner in Jamaica. George and I had a pretty long conversation where he said he was at the post office after hours in Andalusia, Alabama on Bure Street finishing up the paperwork for the delivery of my cashier's check tomorrow. Once we had talked for a while, I wished George good evening and let him know that I would be contacting the police with the recording I had made of our conversation. "There's no reason for you to be so rude and disrespectful, Brittany." Ohhhhh...no he didn't. I advised him I would be disconnecting the call and hung up. He called back. 5 times. On the last call, he answered the phone with my mother's first name. "So your name isn't really Brittany, it's ________." Ok. Now I'm pissed. "George, I will be calling the police now, have a good evening." "Don't be so disrespectful and rude, Brittany." "I'm disrespectful and rude??! You have called me repeatedly after I've asked you to stop, and now that I've advised you that I will be informing the authorities of your scam, you have the audacity to call ME disrespectful?? Good night, George." So now I'm equally enraged and freaked out that this guy was so persistent and knows some of my (albeit vague) personal information.
George is telling tales. The main post office in Andy is on Three Notch, not on some fantasy street called Bure. There is no Bure Street in Andalusia. I have friends in Andalusia and I am there a few times a month from the Elba area; I know Andalusia pretty well. Best, I think, if you don't talk to George any more, he is up to no good and there no good to come of it. We get a lot of these calls in this area, you might want to get a call blocker. I just never answer an unknown call or number, and never, EVER call an unknown back.
My elderly mom got taken in by these people. They called from 941-249-3407, 941-249-3408, 941-249-3409, 941-249-3410, and 941-249-3411. Said they were from Microsoft and her account was expired. Let them remote into her PC and she also gave them passwords. They installed programs. She had to pay 191.00 for 3 yr. plan. They said they would deposit 800.00 into her checking and then she would have to give them a money order for the difference between the 800. and 191. because they couldn't just put in for such a small amount of money. She did go to the bank to see if the 800. was there, and they told her not to do the money order!
Had her shut off her PC, changed logins and passwords for all accounts, cancelled credit cards...everything. Will wipe out her PC and clean it. Doesn't look like they got anything at time time because we acted quickly!
