You are absolutely right-keep the money local so you see what they are doing with it. In my opinion at least 80% should go to the cause they are touting. Maybe I'm a optimist-but that's what I think.
i was told it is a charity that helps police somehow, they gave a long explanation of all the wonderful things they do. when asked if they worked directly for the police or if the caller was a police officer the answer was no. When asked how much of the donation goes to the police I was told a minimum of 10%!!!
I think a minimum of 10% is way too little, their business is getting money out of people and donating a little bit of it to a charity probably chosen by the call. We should not be donating our money to middle agents - if you want to give money to your local police department, do it directly.
I asked them to stop calling.
