The only thing it costs is the clients time. And for most people, time is money. I'm a very skeptical person myself, that's why i require all our reps to give the gifts upfront. We are a legit company. To be successful, you have to do some form of advertising. Our choice is to spend money on gifts cards for new home owners.
It's a water filtration company. They do these free tests at your tap water and leave you some information hoping you will buy a filter from them. I didn't buy it but they did leave me a Red Lobster gift card. Their marketing might be questionable but it's a legit company.
They can't be legit if they are calling numbers on the Do Not Call list under the guise of a "gift". The sole purpose of the call is to entice you into agreeing to a sales presentation for their water filtration systems. The FTC has ruled and the courts have agreed that their actions fit the definition of a sales call in the Telephone Sales Rules and therefore the caller is required to screen against the DNC list before calling.
