Another IRS/Treasury Department scam about my delinquent payments or something to that effect. Just for fun, when I saw the incoming call, I knew what it was, but I picked it up anyway without saying "hello." Within seconds, this guy with a rather understandable Indian accent went on his script warning me about the money I owe and that ignoring this call would have "serious consequences," etc., etc. Sounded like a live person, but I decided to hang up on him after being scared out of my wits. I'm going to have to find a local Western Union right away and wire all my money because I don't want government agents raiding my home! I promise I'll never to do it again!
(You know times are tough when even the scammers have to outsource their con to India.)
I received two calls both referencing this number to call back. Also had calls from Quebec for my " last chance " refinancing my mortgage and a private caller who wanted to clean my chimney. My answering machine was busy today. No one will get a returned call.
Once he got in to his schpeal, I interrupted and said "wait, what?" He replied with his heavy accent: "dis is da Internal rebenue serbisses", to which I insisted that I was the Internal revenue services....!!!! I'm confused because you're taking MY calls! Why are you taking MY calls from me! He became very aggitated that I wasn't taking him seriously and we argued as I insisted he was breaking the rules by taking MY calls from me. He finally hung up. I'm REALLY hoping that puts me on their do not call list because I wasted a bunch of his time.... Tee hee hee! (But I won't hold my breath). I won't know because this number has been added to the hundreds that are on my cell phone.
I was left a recorded message yesterday. I could not understand who was calling, but a male voice with a very thick accent stated that "this is the second attempt to contact me and if this message is ignored it would be a federal criminal offense" and would have to appear before a federal magistrate. "I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you". THESE MUST BE SCAMMERS!!!
