I received a white "Notice of Package on Hold" in my mailbox shortly after I bought a new condo. It said "Second Attempt" and directed me to call 800-783-5982. It looked shady since it was not the normal brown notice from USPS, so I did not call. I received another yellow notice that said "Notice of Parcel on Hold" call 951-821-0874. That one said "Final Attempt." I don't know if they are related or if they are two separate scams.
Scammer sends you post cards after home purchase welcoming you to the neighborhood. From retail stores, restaurants, post offices stating free gifts or package delivery. Once you call the number & leave your name & number she sells your info.

I Googled this -- which is something YOU should have done -- and found a SNOPES article on it. It was the first listing on the search page. I'll save you the trouble, this time: http://www.snopes.com/fraud/telephone/pds.asp
We had the same things happened, first a white post card said 2nd attempt, then a yellow post card says final attempt. Indistinctly, we knew they both scams. Don't call back. Or bring it to the post office nearby to identify.
