Their website says: Machol & Johannes, LLC (and affiliates) is a premier collection law firm in Colorado, Washington State, Oregon, and New Mexico. It is unknown whether they collect debts as a collection agency owning the debt, which is what I suspect, or as a lawyer for representing the original creditor, but if they are calling you it is likely it is for the purpose of collecting a debt or potentially to arrange a court date.
Remember that even if you have a judgment against you, actually going to court to collect the debt is a separate action at least in my state and I believe in every state, although check with your local county court, and you must respond to collection action with an application for exemptions of assets and income as provided in your state's laws or you risk the loss of exempt income and assets. Don't delay apply within the deadline given and preferably much sooner. You local county court collect can tell you the laws and procedures and supply you with any needed form(s).
I received a voice mail stating what I though I heard the person say, Calling for "Matt McGuire" possible he was Matt McGuire but he didn't speak well enough to understand him. He said he was with Machol & Johannes and he was a debt collector and had an important message. I didn't think they could even say they are debt collectors on a voice mail. Might get in trouble with the Federal Trade Communion. I have not received anything from this company in writing so I'm not calling back.
