Automated recording requested identification of ownership of my phone number by pressing #1. I was placed on hold for an annoyingly long period of time while listening to a recording in the background stating that it was an attempt to collect a debt. When a live person came on the line, she identified herself as representing CMR Financial Services. (When I Googled the company name later, I found it to be CMRE Financial Services.) The representative used my telephone number to pull up my account information. Then she asked for my date of birth or my address to confirm my identity. The representative would not give me any information about the company that she was representing until I identified myself with either my date of birth or my address information. I refused to give either information since I have no idea who the company is or what they represent. At that point the representative ended the phone call.
