I don't even answer my phone any more because the problem with these calls has taken over my phone. Cox captures it and I can Google the number to see if it might have been a call I wanted to answer but never is. Isn't there any end to robotic calls? Will they just go on forever? Is there nothing we can do? And I don't mean the usual DNC lists, wasting time threatening, suing (yeah, right) etc etc etc or are we doomed to only have a phone sitting there to answer calls from machines?????? I changed one number and the new number is worse than the first so this phone is worthless as I keep another number for friends and family ONLY and only use the land line to make local calls out to merchants or whoever I don't want to sell my number or add me to their robo call lists! This is WRONG. The phone companies should be held more accountable (and I don't mean by charging extra) for this nuisance to their customers!

The previous message and this one pertain to this number: 971-256-0988. For some reason 800notes had changed the number and I didn't notice. In addition this site should list latest calls first in case someone has any real answers. Instead I see that the first messages are 2 years old and this will go down the line to page 2 or 3 so I doubt that many, if any, are going to wade through old messages to look for any possible recent solutions.

The VC_SIT tone does work!  I know this for a fact because the Radio Shack Telezapper was built for this.

Back in the late 1990's I was getting more trash calls in a day than I should have got in a year!  I bought the Telezapper with plays the first note of the VC_SIT every time the handset was taken off-hook.  So even if I answered a robodialed call, the system on the other end would hear this and disconnect never to call back.  After about 6 weeks or so, the calls were almost 0.

Since the Telezapper is probably hard to come by, the recorded notes will do the same AS LONG AS you have a local answer machine.  If you use a digital voice mail (through your phone provider), you have to record the tones into your outgoing message there (probably through your handset when you dial to get to your voicemail).

I hope this helps!
