Call back gets, "Person you have called is on another line. You may continue to hold or press any key to leave a voice mail message." No matter what you do, the call will terminate in a busy signal. There's no voice mail and no waiting. This is the epitome of a SCAM. The caller is deliberately HIDING. Posts on Mrnumber.com report it as spam. Clearly a number you should block.
Yes it is Directv. I called them right after I got the 971 call and they confirmed indeed that they do use outside vendors to call customers and try to sell them additional packages. But they lady was very apologetic to me when I told her that this little worm that called me from the 971 number would NOT take no for an answer. He kept trying to sell me different packages until I basically told him which orifice he could shove this phone call.
It is directv. I called DTV customer support and they said the company is not affiliated with them. THey said it is not a scam, but the changes and promotions they add do not always even work. He said if they call, to just decline the offers, and even if you accept, it may not even go through. He said for the best deals to just call the support number for DTV itself.
I just started getting late night calls from this number. Even if it is DirectTV it is still annoying. I use the Mr. Number app, so I registered the number as "SPAM" and chose "HANG UP" as the option for Mr. Number to take when it starts to ring and I no longer have to get annoyed about it - soon they will get the message and stop calling. Either way I don't have to monitor it any more. Try Mr. Number - it's a great app!
I've been receiving calls from this number at various times. Have yet to answer and they never leave a message. If it is a Direct TV number, Direct TV would should show on the caller ID. Ignore the number, it seems to be a scam.
