Thank you for posting this... I just got the call myself. I am sorry you are out the money but it did save me. My last day on the job is Friday this week. I would've been out that money and get a lot of grief from the expense that I couldn't afford.
I received a call from GMI (Government Mortgage Insurance Enterprises) telling me that I can earn money by acting as a third party participant in the refunding of FHA mortgages. She said I would be an Independent Contractor for the Government, earning between $400-$800 per refund as a processing fee. I told her that I will not give out my personal information over the telephone, nor will I give out my debit/checking information. She then proceeded to tell me my mailing address, name, and phone number. I asked how she knew that information about me and she responded "It was sent to me from an online resume you placed on Monster.com." I had placed my resume there about 5-6 months ago. She asked again for my debit/checking information so I can get started with my home based business, when I refused because I felt it was a scam, she told me that others that are skeptical normally purchase a "reloadable debit/credit card from Walmart or somewhere like that" to place the order. I asked for a mailing address so I could send a money order, but she said they do not accept money orders and would not give an address. When I searched the www.whitepages.com for a company name for the phone numbers that had called me, they ALL said "unavailable or unlisted." I'm glad I didn't give them any money. The numbers that called me were: 603-214-3605, 512-404-1292, and both told me to call 971-285-3130. Thanks for posting this. It has been very helpful for me and hopefully others!
Thanks to all of you who post on this phone number. I got this call today and since I am desperately seeking employment, I was almost duped. My gut feelings said to me "you don't have to pay for a job, especailly a government one". It felt like a scam and when I told the operator (a lady) I would not give her my personal information, she suggested that I get a prepaid VISA and call her back. I feel so much better since I checked out this site. Thanks again, working together, we can put an end, or at least slow them down,to these scammers.
i got a call from GMI Enterprises saying that they had a position as a Government Refund Processor and would pay between $400-$800 a refund and up to $38,900 and something a year ALL I had to do was send $79.00 for their orientation packet wich would have my SUPERVISORS number. I asked some general information about the position wich they had no clue but informed me the packet would have that information!! of course i would love for it to be true but i called the BBB and they told me it most likely was a SCAM and not to give any information. I do think the callers are unaware it is a SCAM! The BBB for CA is 209-383-3590! Good thing i didnt go through with it!
Called promising $38,000+ a year. $400 to $800 per refund procesed.
Assured me this is NOT a scam! Said they was a BBB member.I told them I would run up town and get a debit card and could I call them back? Of
course they said #1-971-285-3130. Instead I went to the BBB I couldn't
find a listing,so then I went surfing and found this site THANK GOD
and your site for your help! These kind of people need to be dealt with
and stopped PERMANETLY!
