Someone from this number called our company this morning. Caller ID just said "Security." The guy asked for the boss by name. When told the boss doesn't work in the office, he said he was trying to get a hold of someone regarding security systems and camera surveillance. When I told him we have them already, he thanked me and terminated the call. It bugs me that he didn't identify his company or himself because that just brings up the question about whether or not the call was legit, especially as the # doesn't seem to come back to any specific company through an online search. Of course, it could be a third party telemarketer doing prep work for a legit company... or it could be someone spoofing a number and checking out how secure businesses are before trying something. (Unlikely, but that's the kind of paranoia that pops up when someone starts asking about your security without identifying a company.)
This call shows up as Security and is most likely a process server, collection agency, or search and locators for debt collectors. This could even be a debt collector. The reason I think this is, because we will get call every now and then for the previous owner of our telephone number, a number we have now had for over 12 years. According to a few companies, detectives and other agencies that have called us, the previous owner of our phone number was in some shady trucking business, owes serious money, and is wanted by the law. Unfortunately they haven't tracked him down and I think we start getting these calls again when they are on their last leg for finding this guy.
Just got a call from this number-came up as Security. A woman quickly read about a minute long list of things they could offer-motion sensors, cameras, etc. Also did not name the company that would come out to my house. I have a good security system already so I declined but you do get a feeling something is shady . I am on the no call list and they never said the company name if one even existed.
