This is a scam. Do not respond to them and most importantly, do not give them any of your banking info. They try to use a threat of a civil suit if you do not pay them right there on the spot. Don't fall for it. This has been happening to me for over 3 years now. When they realize that I am not falling for the B/S (please look up the reports online at the FBI website and several news outlets), they call from a different number. I have a list of about 50 numbers from these scammers (or others they've sold my info to) that have been blocked from my phone. Don't let them scare you and don't let them intimidate you. They are fake and are trying to extort money from hardworking people.
They have now called me from 4 different area codes in the past two weeks with the same message and same case number. They need to catch these criminals. I don't understand how they can't catch them, when they are receiving new numbers everyday. They have to give some credentials when they apply for a telephone number. It is really starting to get on my last nerve. This same scam has been going on for over 3 years now. They change it just enough each time they call to try to make you pay them the money. I am not falling for it. I don't owe anything, so stop calling.
PLEASE do not fall for their scam. Do not give them any information, and they will have to get out find a real job like the people they are trying to steal money from.
I'm on the same list you are. My guess is they're just picking up fake VOIP numbers and using autodialers to get everyone within a few minutes. I always get a call on my cell, then immediately my work phone. My parents and one of my friends gets a call every time too. Everyone knows it's a scam and they hang up and try not to blame me too much for using them as "references".
Assuming anyone ever investigates these numbers, they'll probably find them hosted by a website that will have trouble identifying the owners of the accounts.
I have a hard time understanding why these scammers think anyone who doesn't answer the first time would fall for it the second time (or, what is this, the sixth?). The longer they piss people off, the more likely they'll get caught.
They have called me within the last 2 weeks from different numbers saying the same thing about a civil law suit and fraud mess and I have no clue as to what they are talking about. First it was a female and then it was several males calling saying the same thing but using different numbers from different area codes. I blocked the other numbers and now they are calling from a 971 404 0843 and on my caller id it says concorde careers..
