I got the same call from this number. It was a Hispanic guy who didn't speak English too well but I talked to him and he was saying I had been chosen for a grant that I didn't have to pay back for $7000. Well any ways the guy wasnt legit . I called the number he gave me to confirm my grant and it just rung on and On to finally get a beeping tone.

After seeing this number appear on caller ID for weeks, I finally answered.  It was a young woman with poor speaking skills asking if I was familiar with Medicare Part D and I said I was.  She then asked me if I would be willing to call my state representative, but did not say why I should call them.  I said okay, not wanting her to hang up just yet.  I then asked where she was calling from, and she replied "American Pharmaceutical Company".   Of course, that was just a made up name.  I still have no idea what she really wanted me to do and have no intention of bothering my representative with this, but at least now I don't expect to get these calls again...  for a while... Unfortunately, these types of calls are not covered under my state's Do Not Call policy.

Just received the same call. I have seen this number on my caller ID before. Never a message. So,I just called Verizon customer service. No,the call is not coming from the White House it is a telemarketer. Apparently they have a machine that randomly calls numbers to check if a human answers the phone. If they get a machine it will try again later, until someone answers. I was told that Verizon cannot block this number because it isn't my area code. I mentioned that I was on the "No Call" list and she told me that once you give to a charity, like the ones that sent you the return address labels, you are fair game for them ( as a old customer) and it is perfectly legal for them to call you. She also told me to get on the "No Call" list for my state, which is different from the Gov.site. (donotcall.gov)For PA it is: www.nocallsplease.com)
Good Luck

I got a call 3 times in the past 2 days.  On the 4th call I picked up, already looking up the number from this sight.  A girl with a normal american accent was there and she told me about how represenitive Franco is trying to raise taxes on tabacco products (mostly chew) and wanted to see if I was willing to call number to pretty much protest.  the number she gave me was 717-705-1875.  I have not checked this number yet.  after she gae me that number I asked her why she was using a fake number.  She said she was calling from Iowa, but (202) is a washington DC area code.  she calmly said she wasnt sure of the number and asked me if I would like to speak to a manager.  She put him on and he explained its just a number that comes up from thir company.  he asked me if I ever signed up for any kind of smoking product cupon or anything because thats how they usually get their number. I told him no because I dont smoke or chew.  but after I thought about it I did sign up for 3 free cans of chew for my friend, so I'm blaming copenhagan.
