Just got one of these calls, and, like others have reported, the guy had a heavy accent, though he claimed to be calling from Washington D.C. I actually listened to the guy for a while just to see what he would ask for. Once he mentioned that he would need my bank account or credit card info, I told him it wasn't happening and that we were done, then I hung up.
They are claiming they are from the "us federal government greens department" giving free $9K grants to people to pay bills, buy a car, etc. I started asking a bunch of questions and the lady (with a thick foreign accent) hung up.
I got a call yesterday (Oct 29, '14 4:55 pm). Some heavily accented dude jumped right in and started hard selling some BS about $10K worth of government loans. All of which you can get for free without these losers messing with it. I'm sure this is a scam and has nothing at all to do with government loans. They want your personal financial info under the ruse of the gov loan. These people have no affiliation with the US government. I just called that 202-204-2494 and it will not work. Do not give your info to these people.

I just received a call from this number regarding a $9K grant. They asked if I had a debit card or reloadable card and it could be $0 or have a negative balance. I told them I don't have any cards (I would be crazy to give that info). She then asked if I could use a family members or friends card....GOVERNMENT...yeah right! More like FRAUD, SCAM & RIP-OFFS!!!
