He claimed to be from Sun Life financials and wanted to make an appointment for a "presentation" for life insurance. I asked if he was a telemarketer and he replied "Oh no, we do not ask for credit card info".
I asked if he was selling insurance and he replied "Oh no, I'm calling only to make an appointment".
When I asked for a return number to confirm it was Sunlife, he gave me 416-273-8852 and it was obviously a wrong number. What a dumbass !
He called claiming he needed to speak to my dad about his life insurance and was demanding his cell phone, when I told him I would not give it to him he kept pressing saying it was urgent and i needed to give it to him. After I said with out any form of identification from him he would get nothing he said thank you for your time and hung up.
just now got a phone call from this number. The guy said he is calling on behalf of sunlife financial. His supervisor is coming to my area and will be visiting my apartment which seemed pretty funny to me! then I just replied I will be out of town for next couple of days. he then hang up.
I received a call from this number on Sunday and there was a lot of loud talking in the background. so much noise in fact that the caller could hardly hear me. They claimed to be from Sun Life and wanted to come over to provide a life insurance quotation. I told them I was busy but maybe on Tuesday. The caller and subsequently his supervisor started asking me questions about my age and if I currently had life insurance - I refused to answer. The callers did have my name and complete address, but they could get this information from the phone book / internet pretty easily. In the meantime, I called Sun Life and they informed me that they do not use outsourced call centers to make sales calls and that if somebody from Sun Life had contacted me, it would have been a local number (I do not live in area code 202). I called the number back and it went to a voicemail system (unavailable). I would suggest that this is some sort of a scam and do not let these people in your house under any circumstances. I've currently blocked the number.
