Received many scam calls starting with 876 but this was the first (August 2015) from the Washington Area...
Also received another call from: 202-239-0060.
I continued answering the daily calls to find more information of this scam. Knowing from the numbers 876, it was from Jamaica and a scam. Because the callers were very persuading, I am concerned that an older couple would receive these calls and believe they won something. I hope the following information is helpful. Especially receiving two calls (202) from the Washington area. There must be a connection.
I was able to get the following information. Using the internet and address to get the telephone number. Two addresses where given. The first was for a check of $100. The second address was to send the monies ($1000) from Western Union or a nearby Walmart.
1st name/address for Money to be sent was to:
Johnnie Taylor
3503 Prince Road
Augusta, GA 30906
Tel: 706-796-7295
or Tel; 736-451-4514
I called the numbers and a very old man answered who could hardly talk. No way is he involved with the scam. Persons are using his address to collect check, money order or cash.
They became frustrated that I could not send $100, a second name and address for money ($1000) to be sent
from Western Union and or a nearby Walmart::
Lexington Kerr
201 1/2 Vine Street
Vernon, Valley, PA
The callers response, since I did not comply with sending funds, was calling me a "B...h".
Yet they continued to call afterwards. Each caller is a different person. The latest call was today, Sept 2, from
876-770-7650.
Sincerely,
LG
