Recorded call claimed to be IRS at 8:40 am Labor Day saying I needed to call back. This was on a company cell phone and IRS doesn't work on Labor Day. This is a foreign scam and needs to be stopped!
I received a call from (202) 241-1162 It was a womans' voice on a machine. She said I should not ignore this message and call the number before they take further action. Something has to be done about these foreigners infiltrating our private phones.
Nothing can be done because these criminals are operating from overseas boiler rooms utilizing VOIP to spoof numbers to make it appear the calls are legitimate and originating from within the US, making them next to impossible to trace. Even if they could, our government couldn't prosecute them because they have no jurisdiction in these countries whose governments could basically care less. The key to stopping these scams is educating enough people to stop the flow of money to these criminals where they will (hopefully) and eventually die off.
