Non citizen, with a very thick accent, said I am being sued faor a payday loan though cash nst USA, I do not. I filed a claim with ftc, attorney generals off in Washington, sine Jeff Anderson law firm is who conted me. Do not fall for this scam.
I had a message left on my machine while I was at work, said he was a officer and had a federal ID #, and went on to say I had past due taxes Ive owed since 2003? and they were going to issue a warent, But he used my nick name not my real name?? LOL man had a thick mexican accent? (I was in mexico last week where I use my nick name) so I think it started there! Kinda funny!
Ignore It, it is a fake. Look at the logo (it is a cut and paste image) and there is no specific Law firm named. You can report it to the Better Business bureau and if you are still worried you can call them. If they do not immediately say "this is an attempt to collect a debt,...blah blah" then it is a fraudulent call hang up. If they do say it, ask for something mailed to your address which they should already have on file if it is a real debt. If they say anything like payment must be made today, you must get an attorney, or anything else other than "ok please confirm that this _____ is your address" Then it is a fraud call. Hang up immediately. Scare tactics are illegal in the U.S. so a legitimate debt collector will never tell you you have to get an attorney. If in doubt hang up. A legitimate debt collector has numerous ways to get in contact with you, with the primary method being mail. Check your credit regularly. Anything bad will show up on there before you come anywhere near getting sued. A legitimate debt does not want to go to court and would rather just write it off their taxes as a loss.
Got this in my email. Called and got a man with a thick Indian accent. He did NOT say that "This is an attempt to collect a debt...blah blah" and he refused to mail me out a proof of debt in the mail. Once I said I would not speak to him without proof, since I did not have any unpaid loans. He threatened me with a lawyer and so I just hung up. These scams are common, asking for mailed proof of the debt is the fastest way to know if its real or not. Scare tactics are illegal in the United States.
