Got a call on answering machine from Ricky Stevens from "The Dept of Legal Affairs" and said my name was going to be in a lawsuit and I should call him back right away. Had a foreign accent.
"Department Of Legal Service Of US Treasury"??? LMAO.....Right There From the Jump It Sounds Sketchy As Hell. I Guess They Figure By Calling From DC Area Code 202, That We Are Just Going To Automatically Believe They Are "Official". If They Contact You, Call The REAL US Dept Of The Treasury @ (202) 622-2000 & File A Complaint About These Bums....
Nick Walker left mssg on ans machine; "Dept of Legal Affairs"... being named in legal action, yadda yadda. Wierd accent but sounded like it was voice altered. Did same thing... looked up 202 area code and it led me here. Thanks for all who have posted! Sure hope others know to do the same...
I received a simplier message from Nick Walker stating that my name is part of a legal action and if I do not call back i need to get an attorney. I was told to "make it right and call me back". I could tell it wasn't a legitimate call.
Got a Voicemail on our home line here in Las Vegas today, asking for my mother by her full name, from a "Ricky Stevens" with a thick Indian accent. The message stated there was legal action to be taken against my mother and to "make it right" she would need to call back at her earliest convince at 202-241-8598. We called back from the Landline and this "Ricky Stevens" gave us information about taxes that were not properly filed from back in 2009. They gave all this information that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against us, and that there would be a warrant out for our arrest. that the IRS attempted to contact us a month by someone coming to our home, but no was there to respond. He kept going on that if we were to hang up the phone to even contact our lawyer to help us in the matter, that the hanging up of the phone would automatically issue the warrant of arrest.
My mom was freaking out, so she had us transferred to a "Kimberly Johnson" who also sounded Indian. She stated she was the woman that would help handle my mom's case, while connected was an IRS investigator listening in on the call. She started throwing numbers out there that we owed and have not completed the balance of pay. She then started to ask how much are we able to pay now up front. ($4600+ was what they were claiming) and then she starting asking how much we currently have in the bank account and if we can borrow money to start paying this off or pay the amount in full. She again kept saying if we disconnect, the warrant of our arrest would be issued, and even when my mom kept asking to speak to our lawyer so they can contact them on the matter, this Kimberly Jones, actually said, "fine, go ahead and get arrested!" and then SHE is the one who hung up on us!!! TOTALLY A SCAM!!! We called our lawyer, and a personal friend who is a lawyer to confirm that this whole thing is a scam!!! Hope this helps and no one gets caught in the trap!
I just received a call from Nick Walker and he told me I needed to call back during business hours to speak with an agent regarding Law Enforcement Actions. I did call back and got a voice mail, also left a message for my accountant as I was a bit concerned. Once I Googled this phone number (202) 241-8598 I got this message board........ Thank God it's just some twisted sick person and not really the IRS!
