A call came in from this number (202-470-6103/unknown name) while I wasn't home. "Michael" left a message claiming to be an IRS agent and assuring me that I was in danger of being "arrested for a tax evasion" (very poor English) unless I called back right away to settle with them. It was obviously a busy call center located in the Middle East. Apparently they are moving on from the "grants" in June to a new scam.
I just got a call from a lady and she said my name came up from their system for a grant of $9,200.00 and that I dont need to pay back. She gave me an id number GG103 and to call back to the number. A man answered saying to send $300 and when I told him I dont have it he said to send $100. I hung up the phone. These people are jerks..stealing money from people that work hard to make ends meet everyday.
You can't "win" a grant if you never applied for it. You also are NEVER charged money to apply for a grant or any fee in order to receive said grant. You were right to hang up on them! Glad you didn't fall for the scam!
Said I was awarded 9200 in grant money but first I needed to purchase a green dot money pak and add 200 for activation fee. It's a SCAM. Our country doesn't have 9200 to give to 1500 random people and if they did it wouldn't be such a hassle to receive it.
I received a call from a foreign man who said I have been selected to receive a $9200 grant. He said I had to purchase $215 green dot money pak then call back and your money will be released. I fell for it and bought a card called. Then they tell me I need another green dot money card for $999 to get the money released because I was receiving over 10k they have to charge for the fee to transfer the money. I am a single mom of 4 kids and was going to be filing bankruptcy so I thought to myself what a blessing this has happened to me. Well they keptasking ffor money. I sent them $1500 and they kept promising to release my money in my checking account. The first number was 202-675-5075 then when they said they electronically transferred tgd money it never came. I then had to call 315-470-6103 to see what is taking so long. The guy said I had to pay $212 to get it thru customs. I argued w them.....I have no money IG is a scam people! I learned the hard way.
