This person called me saying they worked with the government and FBI, they told me that they were sending me 10,000 us government grant money. Then say that I needed to pay 180 dollar. Some one called me saying that they were from the FBI and that they were sending me federal agents to my home. His name is Anthony Gordon.
I called this number (202) 738-4252 and this person with a wierd accent named (Anthony Gordon) picked up. He told me he was sending me 10,000 U.S. dollars. (Government grant money.) He told me to pay a security deposit of 180.00 & he'll stay on the phone with me until the transaction was confirmed. Almost beleived it until my wife told me it could be a scam? So I did my research and here I am. Luckily I didn't send him anything.
• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to pay money for a loan or prize, BEFORE getting the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse.
I just got the same phone call. I knew I shouldn't have picked it up. The guy sounded Asian and I could barely understand what he was saying, but I DID understand that I had supposedly won a $10,200 Grant from the U.S. government. They wanted Bank Account information or a Credit Card. I told him that I didn't have a bank account and I ended up giving him the number from a Walmart PrePaid card that I'm sick of anyway. It's a good thing I decided to do a little research on the number he gave me. I don't believe I will call the number he told me to call; "The Account Manager". I wish there was a way we could get their Shady [***] BUSTED. I have no idea how they got my cell phone number. I signed up for the "DO NOT CALL LIST" about a month ago and here the past week, or so, I've been getting several weird numbers that I don't recognize, calling me. I normally just ignore them. Oh well, I'm just glad I found this site today. Oh yea, the number that originally called me was: (732) 873-8647 and the number he wanted me to call was: (202) 738-4252.
