I won $7G, I'm totally going to give an Indian fellow my bank info. He couldn't even say my last name to where I'd recognize it. He kept saying he was the us treasury. When I asked further questions he kept getting annoyed and defensive
Someone answered this time calling themselves "U.S. Government Grant Department" saying I was randomly selected to receive a $7,000 grant as a reward for being a good citizen: my bills on time and not having a criminal record. "Is that right?" I hung up.
I figure this is related to political activism. I just signed up to accept calls from Move-On.org and a few others last night and today I receive 2 calls from this D.C. number. No response when I answered.
Caller (with an thick accent) stated that he was calling from the US Grant Department and I had been given a grant for $7K. When I asked, 'what was the grant for', he stated I had won a grant for $7K. At that time, I told him to take me off his calling list and hung up.
This number has called my phone dozens of times so I decided to answer.. Sure enough, it was the same call from a woman with the same line about a $7k grant! Very thick indian accent, saying she's from the grant department and that I had "won" a grant.. (REALLY?) I never participate in contests of any kind so winning one is a first.. Then she said I didn't have to apply..I was "SELECTED".. LMAO!! For the government to have a grant sweepstakes is just wishful thinking of the brain dead! It had SCAM written all over it. I played along and listened to her tell me that because I didn't have a criminal record and paid my taxes and yadda yadda yadda. She asked a couple of general questions like marital status, employment status and age.. I lied to all of them and she had NO clue.. The government has records and can probably tell you what you ate last week for dinner. if she was calling from a government office, she would have known I wasn't being truthful... then when she got to the question of what I would use the money for.. I promptly replied.. "DRUGS!! Cause I needs em!" LMAO... Must have been a first for her because she went quiet for a few seconds and then suggested that I take the call seriously.. that was the last straw..I was tired of the BS. I told her this is a scam, no such program exists, the number would be reported and to stop calling my phone! She hung up real fast.. DON'T FALL FOR IT!! The only thing free in life is trouble and hard times... and who on earth wants that!?
that is hilarious, I went along also for a bit. he said I won a grant for 14k kept talking and repeated that I won a grant for 8k. I'm like wow, I lost 6k in the few minutes you have been talking. I said, so send me a check, no ma'am I did to deposit it in your account, I will need banking info. I said I can't belive people would actually fall for this. bye
