Had an automated message left on my landline that it was the IRS and it was urgent that I contact them immediately. Just called this number back and there were several red flags...first the caller ID on this number is a Washinton DC cell phone. Second, when I called the number back someone picked up on the 2nd ring and there was no automated system. Not typical of government. Third they got upset when I asked them to prove to me they were the IRS. Also, they said I owed back taxes and were being audited and we have always paid taxes. Said I received notice in the mail and that was never the case. Talked to a man with Indian accent. Hung up on him. Total Scam!!!
Claimed to be the irs and that this call was a matter of urgency. It was an automated message and kept repeating the message. They tried to scam last year and almost felled for it. The IRS never call and when they need to get in contact they send out a letter. This is a total scam.
