OK, all the prior posts were about a debt collector. Now you claim it is a different scam? Then what would tracking a debt collector have to do with the scam you are referring to?
Claiming to be attorney office... "Law office of Joseph and Joseph" however afraid to provide any information regarding their business office/location/lic number. Called back then claimed to be the Department of Justice. Obviously a fake...
Recieved a call from Cynthia Harper. When calling, she answered the phone as Fraud Division. She informed me of a fraudlent check charge pending from a Ace Cash Advance from 2007. She couldn't provide me with any documentation of the debt, nor would be tell me what company or entity she was affiliated with. She kept repeating, I handle check fraud for States Attorney's Offices. When I agreed to pay the debt, she put me on hold claiming to call the States Attorney's Office in Ohio. She told me she would put me on conference call with his office. She left me on hold for about 10 minutes and said he refused the conference call but he did give me a settlement amount. I was to send a Money Gram to "JOHNSON AND JOHNSON FINANCIAL SERVICES." After hanging up with her, I did some online research about the number and found several complaints. I called her back and informed her of this, which she of course blew off. I asked again for company information and she said "I don't really work for a company. It's just a check fraud division. By this time I began laughing at her. I told her she wouldn't be getting her commision today!!! I believe she works for Johnson and Johnson Collections. I,ve received calls before from the 202 area code with people claiming to be inspectors and special agents. Anyone else have this experience?
Cynthia Harper called me as well. Exact same thing that she did with you pending from Ace Cash Advance from 2009 said that she called the States attorneys office in Arizona and keep me on hold and said he wouldn't allow her to conference me in but would allow me 30 days to pay my balance but I had to do a 30% good faith payment by the end of today through money gram to "Johnson and Johnson Financial services". I was at walmart about to make the payment and my mother in law advised me not to and directed me to your post. I'm going to try to contact Ace cash advance and resolve this on my own it was just to fishy. And what collection agency requires you pay through money gram not at he court or over the phone with credit.....
Thanks for replying. I'm glad I'm not the only one here who is trying to be scammed by this vermin. I filed a report with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Today, I'm filing complaints with the States Attorney's Office and the FTC. This is blantantly against the law and I'm not letting this creepy woman off easy. I've read numerous complaints about similar scams involving the same details. Not sure if they work for a collection agency, but I'm pursuing it as far as I can. Any other help or suggestions would be great!!
