Ana A. --LA HABRA, CA
I just received a call from 202-846-9027.. I did not recognize this number so I did not answer the call. I let it go to my answering machine. Some guy is almost yelling into the phone saying that the IRS  was coming after us because we did a fraud return. This has to be scammer because 1. He did not give his name
2. He did not mention who they were looking for. There are 3 of us here in the same household  so who did he want to scam?
3.  It sounded like he was calling from a room where there were dozens of other scammers
4. I am a victim of ID Theft so it is possible that someone again tried to impersonate me however because I am a victim of ID Theft the IRS gave me a secret code so anytime they need to contact me I have to give them this secret code -they have to tell me the secret code first then if they are right then I can give them any kind of information they need.  Because of this ID Theft it takes me almost 6 months to get my refund. ---Anyway this guy did not leave the code  so I am pretty sure it is a scammer.
5. Also--this guy claims that our assets would be frozen because of this tax fraud.  First he said Tax fraud then he says or Tax evasion. Which one is it? If it was a real IRS person calling they would know this information.

PLEASE BE AWARE-----I heard that there was a IRS scam going around.  I looked up this number 202-846-9027 here on 800 notes and on other sites and did not find anything in regards to this number 202-846-9027.

By the way the caller ID says WASHINGTON DC.

Exactly.  I received two calls in one day left on my answering machine.  I also received another call which I did not answer indicating that the IRS is filling a law suit.  The # is254-447-4149

The IRS reminds people that they can know pretty easily when a supposed IRS caller is a fake. Here are five things the scammers often do but the IRS will not do. Any one of these five things is a tell-tale sign of a scam. The IRS will never:
Call to demand immediate payment, nor will we call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill..

Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.

Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card.

Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.

Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
