Received a call from this same number about 1 hour ago and claimed he was from the IRS gave name as Eric Foster and told me I owed the IRS and I need to get a lawyer if I don't call them back. I called back and told them I had reported them to the FTC and my congressman and to stop this scam. I called the FTC and gave them all the details and they are looking into it.
I receved a call identifying himself as an IRS Agent and I must get a lawyer and call them back immediately or else they won't be held responsible. THIS IS A SCAM!!! IRS Agents would never act this way and they would initate via mail.
Caller claimed to be IRS agent and asked for money. His voice had a heavy accent and was very hurried, irritated and unprofessional. I told him that once I receive paper documents through the mail I will take appropriate actions. He hung up immediately.
It is soo good to read that other people have rec calls from this same number and had the same experience that I did. When I asked this person to confirm my information they gave me an address that I don't live at and when I asked for more information they hung up.
Well I just spent 5 minutes on the phone with a man who had a middle-eastern accent. It was the third person I talked to from that number (and they all had middle eastern accents), who all but admitted that it was indeed a scam and that Americans are easy to take advantage of. After an extended exchange of expletives (yes, it was two-way), he seemed resigned to the fact that he'd been "discovered", but assured me that many Americans continue to hand over sensitive information to their "team" over the phone. Such a shame that stuff like this happens every day to innocent folks.
