PLEASE keep us updated on your idea of penalties against American telephone carriers. Please instruct all of us on what you believe we should be doing NOW. Something would have to be passed in order for us to follow-up with the police department, with them then issuing citations/heavy fines to the phone companies, etc.
Keep us posted on your results and what you think our next steps should be.
They called at 12:03pm. Didn't answer - NML. Scammer using a CT area code.
Have now blocked the entire 203 area code.
We have the Digitone ball blocker and it is unique in that it will block area codes as well as full telephone numbers. Currently, we have about 70 area codes blocked and at least 350 phone numbers blocked.
We also have the Panasonic phone that blocks 250 numbers. When the Panasonic fills up - and it often does - we delete a few of the oldest numbers.
Sad to say that in this age, you MUST purchase a call blocking phone or device - we have both .
Thanks for the tip re: Panasonic. Does it have ans. machine w/more tha one line capability ? I'll look it up later on.
A friend of mine who's in trouble has a 203 number so I cannot block the entire area code. Thanks for your help
Same here, They called today for the 2nd time in 2 months. Not a lot, but I started a log 6 months ago of all the unwanted calls and to date have recorded 485. Not all different, as some are repeaters. I have blocked 71 individual nos. and 31 area codes. That takes care of most of them. I suspect after the vote on Tuesday, a lot of the local nos. will dissappear. Hope so, since I can't very well block my own area code. I have the Panasonic KX-TGEA20 model which blocks up to 250 numbers. I bought it just for the purpose of keeping my blood pressure down.:) Very few calls now except those I want to talk with and I can still igore the others. It's very simple to add them to my block list. Life is good again.
You are wise to keep a log of the unwanted callers pestering you. I suggest that after this election is over we all demand of the Congress that it produce laws to punish these people. Since they are likely to be foreigners operating on foreign soil, and thus hard for US law enforcement to reach, I propose the following: let Congress pass stringent penalties against American telephone carriers who enable this outrageous behavior. Let's all carefully document these numbers and then submit our evidence to local police who could issue citations resulting in heavy fines to the phone companies themselves. This nonsense would stop in a New York minute.
