They have called a few times. Picked up this time. Recorded voice said to go get my electric bill. I waited for a live person to pick up. I started telling him we are on the DNC list. He interrupted me. I told him (very loudly) to stop talking. he hung up.
Same as others reported. Electrical company alternate. I never give any information to these people. I researched penalties they can received if they don't follow Do Not Call lists. I understand that they are supposed to search the DNC list and if they violate it, they can be fined up to as much as $16,000.00 per call? Anyway, I just tell them not to call, if I get a person, otherwise I hang up.
Received a call today from this number, 203-538-0995, and caller id has identified number as ASSISTANCE - they are an [***] for continuing to call me. If I don't recognize the number, I don't pick up. Just so frustrating that being on a do not call list doesn't matter anymore!
Being on the DNC list never did have anything to do with the unwanted calls you receive. It is not a monitoring, screening, or blocking process. It is not a law enforcement tool. Its initial and present purpose is to limit the number of sales calls from legitimate and Registered with the FTC, Telemarketers. Scammers and scofflaws have since become so abundant that nothing can keep them from calling. The past 3 years has gone through the roof.
The DNC was never intended for anything more than to Provide a list of those who wish not to be called by the FTC Registered Telemarketers, so that those businesses can honor it. And they do. Or else there would be millions of American businesses who would be calling you, who are now NOT calling because they honor the list.
