Nancy from pain relief center. Wanted to know about aches/pains. Very good 'computer voice'. Answered their few questions (yes/no). I passed. Proceeded to say that they would send me some medicated cream. I would just have to provide a credit card to cover shipping and handling. Wallet stayed in pocket and I disconnected the call. Added number to my block list.
Got a call on my mobile phone from "Nancy" from a "pain relief center" about some topical cream. Sounds real at first but it is a robocall that responds with canned sound bites. I kept asking the name of the person they are calling because it is specific and I knew it didn't have a response. It would respond with a small laugh or "ok" or "thanks" and then keep saying the same thing about a "topical pain relief cream" over and over. I kept toying with it until they hung up.
First call from this outfit, with a Connecticut phone number 203-654-7222. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. The caller i.d. also had L7 SCVC CALL, whatever that means. It isn't anyone I know or have done business with.
I just take up their time, when I'm bored. You don't even have to pay attention, just keep asking them to tell you more. Keep them on the phone as long as possible.
If you can find the company, take them to court. New rules effective Oct. 16, 2013 in an update to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act have given consumers new powers against telemarketers. All telemarketing calls, except those manually dialed that do not contain a recorded message, are now prohibited without the consumer's prior written consent. (The rule also applies to calls made to cellphones and text messages.) The established-business-relationship exemption has been eliminated.
