I got a voice message from someone with this caller ID. Here it is:
"Good afternoon, this is Dan Jura [sp?] calling with SEO Matrix. I was calling in regards to the website. Give me a call here at 203-907-3259. Talk to you then."
If I was a big company, I'm sure this message would get forwarded all the way to the webmaster. But since my phone number is associated with a domain name registration, and I know who are my service providers, I won't call back.
This company is some search engine optimization company who must be calling a number I have on a registered domain somewhere. Their website claims to do SEO "ethically," but they do telemarketing. That's not hypocritcal at all.
I didn't answer the call since my phone is an IP phone and I live in Australia, so the call came in at 4 am.
Number on caller ID was 203-907-0586, and caller ID labeled the caller as SEO MATRIX. I never answer cals from unknown sources. The phone rang only about three times, not even giving my answering machine a chance to pick up.
This number came through and I picked up. The guy on the other end was asking a lot of questions about a website the company I work for has. We use a redirect on our site, so he was asking questions about that as well. Told him he would need to call back and talk to the owner. I could hear other people in the background that made me think this was a call center.
These guys called once yesterday, let the phone ring 2x and hung up. They then called back a couple of hours later and when I answered they didn't identify themselves, but launched into telling me that they were on my website and have noticed some things. Whatever, who are you and what do you want is basically what I told her and she ok thanks and hung up. Shocking.
