I just got a call from this number. I did not answer and they did not leave a message. Since they did not leave a message I assume they are telemarketers and so I have added this number to my blocked call list.
My phone number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry since August 2003 so if they are telemarketers, they are violating the law.
To block calls like this I got a Panasonic KX-TGE245B that allows me to block up to 250 numbers and/or area-codes. Panasonic has several new 2014 models that will block that many numbers. You simply save the CID to the blocked list. You can also block area codes by adding them to what they call a “Range List” (you are blocking the range of numbers starting with that area code).
Call ID said Cell Phone CT. I asked the woman from "Your Chimney Service" if she was calling from a cell phone. She said she was not. She wanted to know if I wanted her company to come out to clean my chimney. I asked her why she would call a telephone number that is on the Federal Do Not Call List. She said she didn't know that my number was on that list. I told her that the list is publicly available and published. Then i posed the question: "So I'm going to allow a company that willfully and intentionally violates US federal law to touch my chimney? I don't think so!"
Keep getting calls from this number, caller ID shows it to be a cell nbr. Searched number and realized it was a scam. I am on the do not call list, which is useless as I receive many calls like this.
