I got a call today from a man with a foreign accent perporting to be with microsoft and was calling to tell me that my pc was in danger of crashing because of malware and viruses and if I would boot up my computor he would fix it, he repeated that he was from microsoft, I told him I was too busy right now but if he would leave his name and # I would call him back, he gave me 206-312-5809 saying again that this was a microsoft # I googled the # and came to these sites.

I received a call from some guy telling me that he has reports that my computer was full of viruses and he was calling to fix the problem. I kept interrupting his shpeel with questions about the company he worked for and how did he obtain such information. He provided the 206-312-5809 phone number .. the company's head office was in Washington .. the company name was Windows I (T or C .. too thickly accented for me to make out which) Solutions. The only question he couldn't answer was what kind of an idiot did he think I was :).. he ended the call when asked for a physical exact location address of the company.
Just got a call. Call display was Unknown number / private caller. I had a very difficult time understanding the broken english but they said that I have malicious files and that they wanted to guide me through fixing the problems. They gave me the number above and struggled, put me on hold a couple of times, to tell me their web address. I said I wasn't touching my computer until I verified who they were with. I couldn't understand the company name they were giving me. I said that I have up-to-date, excellent software that protects me from anything (I do get alerts and my internet security safeguards me).
So glad that these stories are in the media so that I knew to be leery.
