This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
i received an e mailed word document, not sure who it is or what it is for. It stated that this is the final notice i will be given to pay back X number of dollars????? No where does it list anyone's name or what it is for...

In this particular case, the phone number given is that of a magicJack. From www.phonevalidator.com :
Phone Number: 206-497-1297
Date of this Report: April 11, 2014
Phone Line Type: LANDLINE
Phone Company: YMAX CORP -- POSSIBLE MAGICJACK VOIP
Foreign scammers find these particularly useful because they can be plugged into the Internet anywhere in the world and used to call the United States at essentially no cost. Also, since many of the foreign scammers don't know anything about US geography, they ask that a Washington State telephone number be assigned to their magicJack (as there are many available to assigned) because they don't know the difference between Washington State and Washington, D.C. And they think that people get afraid when someone calls them from Washington.
Victims or targets of these scams might try reporting the abuse to the YMAX Corporation (a wholly owned subsidiary of the magicJack VocalTech Corporation (don't you just love the way nerds have troubles with run-on words and capitalization?) at the address below. I've seen reports that they are cooperative in stopping these scammers.
Keep getting threatening calls and voice messages from this number I look number up to find out if it is a goid number but when I see a state with USA on it I have been blocking those calls sick of the calls. I do not answer them maybe they will stop calling soon.
