I got one that started with my name. (Noisey background) When asked who it was he stated he was with federal government and that I had been randomly selected and won 7 grand. I told him to repeat and u could tell he was even reading his name off a cue card cause he was fumbling with it. His accent was strong. Prob South American. Told him no thanks, nice try, I'm sure someone making calls for the government would have better speaking skills than his and hung up.
I got a call from this number and was told that I won 7,000 from fed gov- it was a grant that I didn't have to pay back! I thought it was a scam so I called the number back as instructed. They even gave a confirmation number...John picked up and asked for my confirmation number. He put me on hold briefly and when he came back on the line and recited my address to me. He also asked me if I was employed and how old I was. He also asked how I was going to spend the money. I played dumb and replied "on debt." Then he said I need a debit card and/or checking account to transfer the funds. I said I didn't have one. he replied, "When you get one, please call me back". COMPLETE SCAM!
I just received a call from this number and said she was from the government, could hardly understand her English. Asked me my age I refused to give it. She told me I needed to call her supervisor to make the transfer happen. If it was truly the government I am sure I would not be getting a call from someone whom speaks little broken English.
