Got a call on 08/10/2016 at 12:14 P.M. Had a threatening IRS message!! I am 72 and on a fixed income - very low, mind you!!
And I was threatened with being arrested!! This was on my answering machine, because I did NOT recognize the CRAZY phone number.
I did NOT answer! Okay now, the phone number on my Caller ID only had four numbers! They were 3097. Caller ID said, UNKNOWN NAME.
2nd call today, same scam different number. Both callers were not American, both answered Internal Revenue Service, as soon as I told them I was reporting the call they hung up. Blocked both numbers.
Yep, They called at 8 AM and hung up when I answered then about 15 minutes later called again with the automated woman's voice, saying "We've been trying to reach you, the IRS is suing you for back taxes, call this number back immediately!" It did alarm me, because I got a larger than usual tax return this year, but only because I paid my own healthcare this year...so I always check this site....whew! Thank you for having such a wonderful group of people who tell it like it is...I should know the IRS sends letters, not threatening calls.
