Firstly, if Account Control Technology is calling and harassing you, in violation of the FDCPA, get a lawyer and sue.

It is the consumer's responsibility to "know" what they owe to their creditors to prevent being scammed. Account Control Technology will attempt to exploit your ignorance; they will tell you that you have a debt, even if you don't, because that's how they make their commission. If you pay them money, you will not get that money back without a legal battle.

This company deliberately masks their company name to defeat caller-ID. They deliberately evade leaving a voice message to explain their purpose. They use multiple telephone numbers with varying area codes to limit their "exposure" on 800notes.

At this time, they've used (210) 714-4552, (210) 807-4811, (210) 920-2466, (325) 224-3998, (325) 224-3992, (210) 920-2490 and (210) 318-4228 in an attempt to elicit my personal information. Their intent; leverage my personal information to legally bind me to a student loan debt that is believed to be in default.

As a third party debt collector, Account Control Technology, Inc., charges a $2 commission for every $1 they apply towards a defaulted student loan--until, it is brought back into good-standing, and payments are redirected back to the original student loan lender/creditor.

For anyone interested, here's a rip-off article to peruse:

Account Control Technology, Inc., trolls consumer credit reports looking for any account & entry that posits a student loan in either a transferred or collection status. In short, the rubes that work for Account Control Technology, Inc., don't actually research the credit reports and get the lending institution to validate the status of any particular student loan, because that would be considered doing diligence for both the original student loan lender and borrower--doing diligence, as Account Control Technology, Inc. falsely advertises, puts their profit margin at risk.

Account Control Technology, Inc., will keep what they consider "administrative" or "commission" fees, for any money collected from a consumer, even if it is proven/shown that the consumer's student loan was in good standing, or...completely paid off. Their lack of business ethics, is a good reason to literally evade them at all cost.

If anyone even thinks they owe on their student loan, go pull your credit report and validate the entries. If any individual believes they have an account that is transferred or in collection, then deal directly with the lender. There's no good financial reason to pay a middleman debt-collector a 200% commission, to pay a bill--that's ridiculous.

Account Control Technology, Inc., can't legally do any more than a consumer, when it comes to "making" payments to a student loan lender. If an individual is having financial difficulty paying their student loan, then it goes to reason they don't have the extra 200% commission to pay Account Control Technology, Inc. in addition to their regular student loan payment.

Dealing with Account Control Technology, Inc., is a financial win-lose situation...the collector wins and consumer loses in every scenario possible when it comes to repaying a student loan debt.

If anyone wants to clean up their credit report to keep these hounds at bay--I'd suggest getting the credit report status (all three major credit reporting agencies) for the student loan to read "paid in full" with a "$0" balance and a closed date. Also, make sure there aren't derogatory comments on the report--who nows what key words trigger Account Control Technology, Inc., into frothing of the mouth.

Dave Ramsey suggests that bankruptcy is one of the worst experiences an individual can undergo--well; I'm currently in an active bankruptcy. It's not all that bad...I'll have to pay back every cent I've borrowed to my lenders, that's 100% of all my debt over a 3-5 year period (Chapter-13), but I'm financially capable of doing this comfortably.

If anyone is actually in an active bankruptcy, then they are federally protected from collections--yes, even debt collectors like Account Control Technology, Inc., have to obey the law, and abide by the federal stay, that prevents collection efforts.

I could disclose this information to Account Control Technology, Inc., and if they pursued further collection efforts, they could be held in contempt of a federal order, and be held legally liable.

At this time, I choose to not disclose my information or engage them, because...quite frankly, they've proven they're untrustworthy by their unethical business practices. It's just easier to ignore them, write an honest review on sites such as this, and pay off my student loan within the year, per my payment plan. I'll get my student loan account updated on my credit report to reflect "Active Bankruptcy", but I'm not holding my breath that me getting my lender to make that comment is going to deter the jackals of Account Control Technology, Inc. from their insipid and unscrupulous practices.

FYI, all financial debts are "civil" matters--they are never "criminal" matters, and you can never go to jail for not paying a financial debt. If a judge "directs" in court, that a citizen make payments to fulfill financial obligations (child-support, etc.), and the citizen fails to abide by the legal judgment, then there could be legal consequences.
