Got the same call. A friend was stupid enough to believe them and they locked up his computer, then wanted money to fix. When he asked for my IP, I told him his (all phone calls come through my computer) and then told hin FYI that I work for Homeland Security and some marines would be visiting him soon. That is not the case but it was fun to hear him stutter and hang up quickly. I bet he did not answer his door for a few days.
Received a call from a man with an Indian accept who was very lightly whistling when I answered. He was very easy to understand, however he provided no name. He said he was calling from Windows Support. I asked him what this was about. He asked if he could speak to the computer owner. I said, "How do you know I have a computer? And if I do, what kind of computer is it?" He made sort of an exasperated noise and then hung up on me.
Got a call from 213-102-3456 which shows up as a verizon phone# located near Los Angeles. Person with Indian accent stating there is a problem with my windows computer and he needed to fix it. I advised him I didn't have a windows computer, but would like to know how he got my number. He then asked if there was a "Susan" there. I said "there is no Susan here, which means this call is fraud and FYI, I work for a Fraud Prevention Company[which I do] so I will be tracking the phone number once you disconnect." He then said "you can use your computer" and hung up. Stupid [***].
