I responded to an ad for a Personal/Administrative Assistant this morning (Saturday) when it appeared in my job search feed. By this evening, I received information similar to what I have been reading here; the position has been filled but another individual is looking for a Personal/Admin Asst. I was given a name and an e-mail address. Thinking it was rather odd that I could apply for a job on a Saturday morning and receive a response by Saturday evening, I decided to do some digging. That's when I came across this information. While I never received a phone call from the phone number listed, I did receive information somewhat identical to what some of you have posted. A name given to me was the same as one of the names posted here. I appreciate you guys posting this information. I've been regularly checking on what I thought was a reputable job search site (this is in conjunction with my local newspaper) but now I have to wonder. I'll next reach out to the police. Thanks again!
OMG! I saw this ad in Danbury Newstimes. I emailed
And was told it was filled and was given another email with Louis stouden email address. I sent my resume and information nothing that can get me in trouble or personal information. I thought it was legit because you have to pay to put this article in the paper. He says he's sending me a tracking number once it ships. Help any advice?
Please idk what to do?
Looks like the "counterfeit check scam" - in other words, it's not a real job.
If a check arrives, take it to the police along with a printout (or just the link) to this webpage.
1. There is no personal interview, or sometimes no interview at all.
2. It is a work at home position many times because the office in your area is not built, rented, or established yet.
3. You need a bank account to receive and deposit checks, or you need to receive packages and resend them.
4. You need to deposit the check, and send the money through some way such as Western Union or Greendot money card.
5. The pay and benefits are way beyond anything you would normally earn.
6. All communication is by e mail, text, or instant message.
As William said, the check will be no good. They will ask you to cash it and send the money somewhere by untraceable means. The check will bounce, you will be out the money and the fees and if the check is large enough you may also face criminal charges. Take the check and the envelope it came in to the post office and have them forward it to the postal inspectors.
