I was called twice in a row with no voice message. Strange number V22210475001233 showed on my cell phone. I did not answer and will block 1-213-266-9256 Los Angeles, CA
This was a very strange call. Yes it was soliciting for non specific law enforcement agency. But the male voice sounded automated, so I asked if I was speaking to a real person, and they said "actually you are speaking to a live person. I am using voice correction for quality control." They then passed me off to "quality control" and it was a female voice also sounding automated. Asked again "is this a real person" and I got the same response word for word. Blocking.
I just received a call from this number aND because I'm dealing with insurance company's I answered it. The guy on other end said Hi, is this My name, I responded yes this is her, then there a brief silence and it repeated itself and again like a dumb as I said yes this is her and then they hung up. When I called back it said welcome to the fundraising we are unavailable please leave a message or 9 for more options. Great I totally got scammed! Ugh!
just got a call on my Verizon cell phone, from 2132669256. An utmost slimy voiced middle aged man asks for the "head of the household" and then blathers about being from the Police and that they started fund raising... sounded phony as hell. I cut him off and asks where he has that Nr from, he answers "we purchase lists... " i cut him off and request he deletes my number from their lists and does not call me again. Some people here say that we have little to no recourse against such crooks. In this case i disagree. Correct me if i am wrong, but it is my understanding that impersonating Law Enforcement is either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending of the nature of the impersonation and the local jurisdiction. Hence, the damage is caused to the Law Enforcement, and it should incur to them to investigate and press charges against the crooks and fraudsters who attempt to extort either money, or information that will enable said crooks to illicitly obtain funds, or both.
