called me and said the tech company he works for is going out of business and I'm owed a refund for computer protection services which I definitely never paid for. I would never buy third party tech support over the phone from a random company. He said he needed to show me the refund on my computer by remotely taking control of it. No thanks. Just block the number.
Just got a call saying that they needed payment for my antivirus services. I said knew nothing about it. They gave me my dad's OLD email address. I'll have to check his accounts but I guess they have an old card number that was compromised a long time ago and deactivated. Now I need to go see if I can find the old records. They wanted 399.00 for "antivirus" and "Malewarebytes" I know the latter you can get free. Sounds like dad may have fallen for a scam. :( Hopefully me repeatedly saying "he no longer lives here" (he's still alive just not at the number anymore) gave the a clue and "there is no computer here" (well there is mine right now but not a working one here most of the time) will delete dad off the system.
